Sharmford Lock
Although rebuilt at the same time as Pipp's Ford, Sharmford Lock was 'modernised',
and its capping stones put to other uses. In the background is the most
westerly of the Barham pits, with the A14 beyond

Below Sharmford Lock, the river quickly widens out, changing its character completely.
In the background is the tall chimney of Mason's Cement Works, now demolished,
at Gt. Blakenham
